The Northern Hills Chinook are pleased to announce we are adding 2 new board member positions, and we have already filled one of those positions.
Rob Zinke has joined the Chinook board and will bring his web design, social media, and Information Technology skills to the table.
Rob's son Quentin plays for the Northern Hills Chinook, and Quentin has the distinction of being the very first goalie in program history.
We are fortunate to have Rob join us on the board and look forward to working together on building the Chinook program and realizing our quest for an indoor rink.
Please join us in welcoming Rob to the Chinook Board of Directors.
Another season of Downtown Friday Nights has come and gone, and we can't thank our volunteers enough! Special thanks goes out to Chinook Booth coordinator Helen Kuehlman for your efforts week in and week out. In addition to raising funds, we were able to get dozens of players preregistered for the 2023-2024 season. Watch soon as we open full registration for the upcoming season - it's time to join the Chinook.
The Northern Hills Chinook youth hockey team in the 4 to 10 year old age group participated in an organized tournament for the first time in program history. The Chinook traveled to Rapid City to play in the Rushmore Thunder Mites Jamboree held March 11th-12th. The Chinook played 4 games as a team over the course of 2 days, and some of the Chinook players played a couple extra games, filling in on other teams that were short a few players. It was a monumental step in the Chinook Hockey program, and the 2023-2024 season is expected to double or triple in youth participation numbers.
If your kids are ready to join the Chinook on the ice next fall - there is a no-obligation, pre-registration form just to let us know you are interested. Here is the link:
A huge thank you goes out to the Rapid City Marshals Indoor Football Team - we are honored to be the beneficiary of your generosity. Additionally, a heartfelt thank you to the lucky bidder that won the jersey and supported our program.

The Northern Hills Amateur Hockey Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of youth hockey, figure skating, and recreational skating in the Northern Black Hills of South Dakota. We invite you to join us in our efforts to bring hockey and a rink to Spearfish. Finding a location for the rink has been challenging to say the least, but hopefully we meet that challenge soon and take it to the next level.
We still have a way to go, and fundraising is our next big step. You can aid the cause by clicking on the donate tab because every little bit helps. If you are considering corporate partnership, please contact one of our board members and we can share our vision and options with you.
Help us bring hockey and ice skating to the Northern Hills. #ItsTime
