Hello Chinook hockey players and parents!

We are excited to kick off our fall 2023 learn to play hockey clinic series in Rapid City this Saturday at 3:45pm. If you are not sure where the Roosevelt Ice Arena is located, the address is 235 Waterloo St. Rapid City, SD 57701. We ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes early (3:15pm) to get your player dressed before we head out on the ice. We will have coaches in both the boys and girls locker rooms to help guide our new parents and players on putting on their equipment. Please bring all your players protective equipment, stick and skates. We encourage our male players to wear a protective cup. We also encourage you to bring a water bottle because we will take short water breaks throughout our clinics.

We will have all of our players at the rink for the full two-hour time frame at this first clinic. We will be evaluating our players' current skill levels to divide them up into skill level groups, for focused development at our future clinic sessions. Each of these groups will have a lead coach and a couple of assistant coaches instructing them. More to come on this after our first clinic.

We will allow our new parents to bring their player out on the ice and be out there with shoes (or skates if you are a confident skater) to help at the beginning portion to make it easier for our new players. If you have a player that has never skated before the ice rink has a "skate helper" product that can be used this first clinic to make our new players comfortable on the ice and gain confidence on their skates.

There is seating next to the rink that will allow parents/spectators to sit right next to the rink. We recommend that you dress warmly (jacket, hat, gloves, and possibly a blanket). The temperature is similar to sitting outside during the winter.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please reach out to our clinic communication liaison Rob Zinke (605)569-6147 or rob.zinke@icloud.com. We ask that you communicate (in advance) if your player has a conflict and unable to attend any of the clinics. Rob can also help coordinate transportation with other parents/players attending our clinic series.

Let's play hockey!
