The Northern Hills Chinook in conjunction with the Northern Hills Amateur Hockey Association proudly take another step towards youth hockey coming to the Northern Black Hills by introducing their new logo and wordmarks.
“When we had or ‘name the team’ contest, the name Chinook was the clear winner in our public vote”, said Mark Kazmer, Association President, “and once the name was chosen, we came up with a range of concepts we wanted the logo to represent”.
Kazmer went on to say that the logo needs to embody the spirit of the Chinook Winds we get in the Northern Hills, while having a fierce-looking logo the kids will love on their jerseys. “Once the final concept was in mind, we turned to Eli Corbett Designs, who designed the Spearfish Sasquatch logo, and as usual Eli nailed it”, said Kazmer.
“We are famous for our Chinook-induced world record temperature change here in Spearfish, not to mentioned what those intense winds can do to structures”, Kazmer continued, “and that is what we wanted for the logo – a ferocious, swirling wind. We hope the kids love it.”
In another move, the NHAHA announces their website is changing to reflect the team’s name. Updates, events, and team information are now found at www.chinookhockey.com.
