January 25th, 2025 will go down in history as the largest pond hockey tournament in the Black Hills yet!
This year, we changed up our rink setup and moved up the lake a little due to bad ice conditions brought on by our strange weather this year-but this has been a blessing in disguise! We were able to create 7 great ice rinks with an 8th for the kids! Our volunteers have been braving negative numbers for weeks prepping both the parking and the ice to show off our great landscape
We are in full swing along with the Chinook Days this week and can't wait to cap off the festivities with our tournament and the bonfire in Spearfish later that evening.
If you haven't seen a bunch of guys and gals skating in front of some of the best views of the mountains, now is your chance to witness the best darn pond hockey tournament in the Black Hills!
Saturday, the games get rolling at 9 am and will go until we have crowned our cup winners. Come see the teams participate in our 3v3 tournament, eat some great food and drinks-maybe even get a picture with some of the local mascots like Snipe, Nugget and Samson!
We will have music playing, fires to keep warm and plenty of space for you to bring a chair or three and watch some great pond hockey-we just ask if you're coming, please try to carpool up and you will NEED a 4x4 vehicle to make it to the last part of the ice-this is normally not maintained areas but with a great partnership with the Lawrence Count Maintenance crew, they volunteer their time plowing the roads up to the lake for our huge event-Make sure to give them a huge thanks--I know we do, we couldn't do it without them!
Our Chinook Squirt B team placed 2nd at the Tyler Wilcox Tournament in Pierre this weekend! Way to go!
